How We Help
Philosophy & Methodology

Communities Working Together is based in Washington, DC and has conducted programs in more than 20 states around the country. During the past few years, CWT has been active in cities as diverse as Hartford, CT, Flint, MI, Columbus, GA, Jacksonville, FL, Baltimore, MD, Alexandria, VA and Santa Cruz, CA .

Financial support for the work of Communities Working Together comes primarily from contracts with the organizations and agencies it serves. CWT also organizes some programs that are supported by individual donations and foundation grants. CWT is affiliated with Project Victory, a non-profit, tax-exempt, educational organization that was founded in 1985.

How We Help

CWT's involvement in helping to bring people together and solve problems can take many different forms. In some situations, CWT works directly with the parties who are on different sides of a problem or an issue to help them find ways to move forward and work together. This can be done through a series of facilitated dialogues or sometimes more formal mediation sessions. In other instances, CWT's primary role is to organize trainings and workshops that help members of a group or organization address their internal problems and prevent conflict. CWT also consults directly with groups and organizations about communication problems and works with individuals and key contacts to develop leadership skills.
